University of Chicago Track Club Summer Meets Results 6-22-06

Because of planned construction at Stagg Field, it will be necessary
to move our meets to a different site for most of this summer and
next. The project will result in a major upgrade of the facilities.
An artificial turf field and a new 400 meter (rather that 440 yard)
track will be installed, lights will be added, and the stands will be
upgraded. However, collecting all of the requisite paperwork in time
to use another site turned out to be impossible, and the first meet had
to be cancelled.
Because the contractors are 2 weeks late starting the construction
project, we held an informal meet at Stagg Field for those people who
showed up. It was a fine day. The temperature had dropped to below
80F after a hot, humid spell, and there was little wind.
At least 69 individuals completed 116 individual events and 6 relays.
Competitors ranged in age from 3 to 44 years. Probably the two most
outstanding perfomances were in the 100m by masters athletes Ennis
Taylor and Jacklynn Mister whose times indicate they will compete well
in national level competitions.
